About Dr. Anita Sunil Kumar

Anita is a Clinical Psychologist by profession and licensed Psychologist-Social Therapist, accredited by the Community Development Authority of Dubai, with over 32 years of professional experience across India, Oman, and the UAE. She currently serves as a Consultant & Therapist at the Dubai Foundation for Women & Children, the UAE’s first licensed non-profit shelter, where she has dedicated 14 years to supporting survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and child abuse. Her expertise spans trauma intervention, early childhood development, family and marital counseling, and the rehabilitation of survivors of abuse. She integrates holistic and evidence-based approaches into her clinical practice, including early intervention and ecological models of support. She is a certified Mindfulness Practitioner, certified Therapeutic Art Life Coach, and has specialized training in Animal-Assisted Therapy and Dance & Movement Therapy. She serves as a Consultant on the Early Childhood Development Expert Panel with the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority and is an active member of the American Psychological Association (Division 43) and the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN), among numerous other national and international professional bodies, reflecting her wide-reaching commitment to advancing best practices in psychology and child protection. As an international speaker and passionate advocate for child protection and women’s empowerment, she has delivered presentations at leading global forums such as the World Rehabilitation Congress, ISPCAN Congress on Child Abuse Prevention, multiple regional and international Mental Health Conferences, and the UNODC Conference on Human Trafficking in Kazakhstan. Her work is dedicated to empowering silent survivors and enhancing community resilience through targeted awareness, prevention, and capacity-building efforts.
