About Dr. Natalia Gomez

Natalia Gómez-Carlier, PhD, is a transpersonal psychologist and board-certified art therapist with over 25 years of international experience in Bogotá, Chicago, New York, Muscat, and Dubai. She specializes in integrating Western psychology with Indigenous wisdom and cultural perspectives, making her approach both holistic and deeply personalized. Natalia holds a PhD in Integral and Transpersonal Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies, a master’s in art therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a psychology degree from Universidad de Los Andes. Her work centers on using the therapeutic process, creativity, and art therapy to foster healing, integration, and personal growth, with a special focus on the intersection of creativity, mental health, and spirituality. As the founder and former president of the Colombian Art Therapy Association, Natalia is a leader in advancing art therapy education and practice. She has trained mental health professionals, led courses, researched and written multiple peer-reviewed publications, and lectured at universities worldwide. Her research and presentations—spanning topics like working with parents, managing anxiety and stress, decolonizing art therapy, and the role of spirituality in psychotherapy—have reached global audiences. Natalia’s therapeutic approach is enriched by her own journey of Jungian analysis, exploration of Indigenous therapies, and yoga certification (300 hours, Jivamukti Yoga, India). Fluent in Spanish and English, she is dedicated to supporting children, teens, and adults through transformative, culturally sensitive care and to continue to expand the reach of art therapy and transpersonal psychology worldwide.
